Craving a succulently satisfying meal you can cook up on the grill? This grilled salmon with maple syrup and rosemary, inspired by Bakersbeans, is not only one of the best salmon recipes you’ll ever sink your teeth into, it will also make you want to cook fish over the flame as often as possible.

This grilled salmon recipe delivers a buttery-rich, fall-apart tender fillet of fish that is lush with lemon and rosemary flavor. A modest amount of naturally sweet maple syrup makes the salmon even more irresistibly delicious. Grilled lemons eagerly give up their smoky-tinged juice that flavorfully finishes off the fish. Best yet, the salmon goes from grill to table in about 10 minutes. This is one fast and fabulously indulgent meal that will get you excited to fire up the flames.

Salmon is swimming with health benefits. This sumptuous fish is abundant with muscle-building protein, heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids, and bone-protecting selenium and vitamin D. This fish is considered a power food and is renowned for its hearty ability to satisfy your hunger and keep you feeling full. Health experts recommend two servings of fish a week. Grilled salmon makes getting your weekly quota quick and easy to achieve.

Farmed or wild? When you peruse the fish counter, you’ll find farmed salmon and wild salmon. Deciding what kind of salmon to buy can be tricky. Farmed salmon is especially convenient if you don’t live near the ocean or if you’re on a budget. Wild salmon is usually more expensive and often preferred because it contains fewer contaminants than farmed, and it has a richer authentic flavor. Regardless of the differences, both farmed and wild salmon are prized for their nutrition. We recommend buying the type of salmon that works best for your family.

Prepare the salmon

This is where the salmon gets deliciously dressed up. Maple syrup, rosemary, and lemon delectably complement the buttery flavor of the salmon. Place a large sheet of aluminum foil on a baking sheet. Set the salmon fillet skin-side down on the foil. Brush the salmon with olive oil and maple syrup. Season with salt and pepper. Sprinkle with the minced fresh rosemary. Lay the lemon slices on top of the salmon.

Fold up the foil for grilling

Instead of completely wrapping the foil around the salmon before it goes on the grill, we create walls with the foil by folding up the sides and corners. This prevents the juices of the salmon from spilling out onto the flame and keeps the salmon bathed in them as it cooks.

Grill the salmon

Slide the salmon onto the grill. Close the lid and grill for 8 to 10 minutes or until the internal temperature of the fish registers 145°F. The salmon will flake when pressed with the back of a fork. Set the salmon aside.

Grill the lemons

Cooking lemons on the grill gives them a smoky flavor and makes them easier to juice. Set the lemons cut-side down directly on the grill and cook for 3 to 4 minutes or until they are lightly charred.
